Our Brazilian Tapir Says…
Hi there, I’m a Brazilian tapir, and guess what? I live in Brazil! I’m actually related to the rhinoceros, and have a long fleshy nose. I love to swim and spend a lot of my time hanging around the Amazon. Unfortunately, humans keep hunting me, causing our numbers to dwindle close to extinction. If you would like to help me, please do so by adopting me through the Aspinall Foundation and help them look after our futures.
udopt and receive
- FREE entry to see your animal at either Port Lympne or Howletts Wild Animal Parks.

- Animal desktop wallpaper and a monthly newsletter.
- Twice yearly animal updates on how the tapirs are doing.
udopt'r choice
The Brazilin tapir is a solitary creature that tends to spend the majority of its life around the hot climate of the Amazon River. They are fantastic swimmers and use the water as a diversion when being hunted, as not many jaguars like to get wet! They are quite noisy animals, with a distinct sound emitted when scared. If people don’t stop hunting them, they may become extinct sooner rather than later.
