I’m a black Rhino, and even though I’m one of the biggest creatures on the planet, I still need looking after, now more than ever. I like to live in tropical bush lands, and can run at speeds of up to 35mph. One thing I can’t run away from though is the spectre of becoming extinct in the very near future. - The rhino horn is actually made from thickly matted hair that grows from the skull.
- Black rhinos have a keen sense of smell and hearing, but really poor eyesight, and have been known to charge at trees by mistake!
- The word rhinoceros comes from two Greek words: Rhino means ‘nose’, and ceros means ‘horn’.
- Rhinos are completely vegetarian, and can live up to 45 year of age.
