Watch This Black Bear Cool Off In A Swimming Pool
The record heat wave in British Columbia affected a black bear so much that he apparently broke down the wooden fence of a home owner in Vancouver in order to take a dip in the swimming pool for relief.
“It’s just amazing,”. “You see funny things on YouTube but never happening in your own backyard.” Tony Diering, the homeowner, told CTV News
First the bear splashes around in the pool and then slides over into the hot tub, though it is not known whether at the time the tub was heated. Wildlife officials are keeping close tabs on the bear which has previously been tagged in the ear. Bear encounters in British Columbia are rare despite the fact that the bear population of the province is actually quite high.
This however was the Dierings second experience with a bear. About a month earlier they found a black bear eating from a bird feeder. In response to that they took down the feeder to discourage other bears from doing the same thing. They are not sure whether this was the same bear that was looking for the bird feeder.
Mr. Diering said that whilst it is amazing to get so close to such an animal, he has worries about the safety of residents. Black bears can cause an awful lot of damages and Mr. Diering says he would prefer it if the bears could just go eat some berries on the mountain instead. Unfortunately due to the long hot and dry summer, such fo9od is becoming increasingly difficult to find which means more bear encounters are likely.
