Watch This Adorable Baby Pygmy Hippo Learn How To Swim
This adorable baby Pygmy Hippo entered the water for the first time at Melbourne Zoo last month under the watchful eye of his mum Petre. The little fella was only 3 weeks old at the time and is called Obi which means heart in a local Nigerian dialect.
Obi has grown rather fast. When he was born he weighed in at 5 kilos, adding about half a kilo a day and three weeks after his birth he weighed 13 kilos. Little Obi has been taking baby steps when it comes to swimming and is learning how to swim in the zoo’s nursery yard pool.
Justin Valentine who works at the zoo says Obi just loves the water and spends hours hanging out in the small pool and is clearly ready for the next step. Obi’s mum Petre has been a wonderful mother by teaching him how to swim and making sure he never wanders off too far. Check out the video for your daily awww moment.
