The Aspinall Foundation Receive Cheque for Back to the Wild

09th January 2013 UNDER Blog

The Aspinall Foundation were over the moon to receive an amazingly generous cheque in support of their groundbreaking ‘Back to the Wild’ initiative. ACM Environmental PLC were kind enough to donate £1,200 to the conservation charity’s Back To The Wild appeal.

The Back To The Wild appeal is to help fund the return of captive born animals back into what would have been their natural habitat, to restart their lives in the wild. This in turn will help to boost indigenous populations of animals under threat, like the black rhino, from extinction.

Finance Director of ACM Environmental Plc, Travis Way, said –

As an organisation with sustainability at our very core, we are delighted to be able to help conservation charity, The Aspinall Foundation, by donating to their Back to the Wild campaign. We look forward to following the progress Djala and his group make as they embark on their ground-breaking journey to Africa’. Through our recycling-led waste management strategy, the Greener Path Programme, ACM Environmental has worked in partnership with The Aspinall Foundation to increase their diversion of waste from landfill by 75%, thereby proactively reducing the impact their organisation has on the environment.

Take a look at the video below to see three critically endangered black rhinos being returned into a the Mkomazi wildlife reserve in Tanzania, which they will now call home. The rhinos, Grumeti, Monduli and Zawadi, were sent over thanks to the great work and fundraising of the Aspinall Foundation’s ‘Back to the Wild’ campaign.

After the success of the re-homing of the black rhinos, the Aspinall Foundation now plan to return an entire family group of western lowland gorillas to Africa this year. It’s thanks to donations such as this from ACM Environmental Plc that this amazing scheme is possible, so many thanks to them for providing the Back to the Wild initiative with this very kind donation.
