New Honey Badger at Howletts Wild Animal Park
Awesome festive news from the Aspinall Foundation, as a brand new female honey badger has been introduced to their Howletts Wild Animal Park, near Canterbury. Home already to the legendary Tyson, new girl on the block Bee Bee has been flown in from Germany to become acquainted to the current park resident to see how they get along.
Here’s hoping that there could be a bit of festive love in the air, so that we could be hearing the pitter patter of tiny badger paws in 2013! Honey badgers are natives of Africa, though having a pair in the UK is quite a coup for the Aspinall Foundation.
They are without question one of the fiercest animals on the planet, and think nothing of fighting animals over 4 times their size, and don’t even mind getting into it with lions! Fearless little creatures, let’s hope that these pair manage to make friends, but as you’ll see in the video below they already appear to have hit it off.
Head of Carnivore Section, Ben Warren, said –
Bee Bee is very sweet and is getting on well with Tyson, It’s his birthday on Tuesday and with Christmas round the corner – Bee Bee is the perfect present for him.’The honey badger is a nocturnal and mostly solitary creature and they have a reputation for being one of the most fearless animals in the world. They have incredibly powerful claws and razor sharp teeth perfect for ripping open beehives to collect honey or kill poultry – another of their favourites.
