New Capybara Pups at Howletts Park
The Aspinall Foundation are absolutely over the moon with their four Capybara pups that were born in their Howletts Wild Animal Park this month. The new breed consist of five female and one male (poor boy!), and are one of the star attractions at the park. These little cuties have been turning visitors heads with their nonchalant padding around their area.

Capybaras are the largest of the rodent species and have big bodies with short heads and shorter front legs than back legs. Their feet are slightly webbed with 4 toes on the front and 3 toes on the back feet. When they dive they can remain under water for up to 5 minutes! These lovely animals are great to look after, the pups are so curious at the moment and at feeding time make the funniest noises as they jumble over each other for the food.
It’s great to see all the new animals that are being born at Howletts, as even though the Capybaras are not endangered just yet, their numbers are declining in the wild due to hunting.
