New Addition to Aspinall Black Lemur Family
The Aspinall Foundation are overjoyed with the news that a new addition has been added to their growing number of Black Lemurs at the Howletts Animal Park. The wild animal haven, which is based over 90 acres near Canterbury, has seen many children thrilled this half term as they excitedly took the chance to see newborn. And let’s face facts, she is a little cutie!
This latest addition is not the first ‘new kid on the block’ this Spring, as even the weather doesn’t seem to be holding back an upturn in the recent pitter patter of tiny feet (and hooves!).
In May alone, there has been brand new Brazilian Tapirs and Dusky Langur Monkeys born at the park, which just goes to show you what an amazing job the Aspinall Foundation and their staff have been doing.
Communications Manager, Carole Thomas, said –
Spring is a great time of year at Howletts and I always enjoy the new arrivals it brings to the park. Half term is the perfect opportunity for visitors to come and see their favourite animals and our latest additions too.
The animals at the Aspinall parks are kept in conditions as close as possible to their natural habitat. This allows them to be at ease with their surroundings, and helps them to be more comfortable during mating season.
Deputy Head of Primate Section, Joanne Marden, said –
This is the second baby for parents, Aprily and Gasy – we’re delighted to see this little addition doing so well and the recent warm weather means that visitors should be able to spot them easily in their walk through open top enclosure.
Here’s hoping to many more births at the parks, as they make the people who work their just as happy as the thousands of visitors who flock through their door every year.
