Giant Panda Cubs At Toronto Zoo Reach 100 Days
The giant panda cubs that were born at Toronto Zoo just over four months ago now have begun to take their first adorable steps and if you want to see how they are doing, check out the video of the cute little critters above. The zoo has released a number of videos featuring the cubs taking their first cautious steps and you can see them waddling and struggling to crawl over a log in this one.
Complete Cuties
The cubs were born in October last year and in the video below you can see just how they have matured, growing from hairless pink balls to adorable black and white fur balls. The zoo has waited to announce the sex of the cubs immediately because it is not possible to reliably determine the gender of a panda cub from appearance alone. DNA tests however have confirmed that at 16 weeks, there is one male cub and one female cub. At this point there are no names but the zoo is offering fans the chance to vote for a name online. There is a choice of between seven sets of Chinese names to choose from and you have until the 28th of February to visit the zoo’s website and cast your ballot.
Canada welcomed its first pair of giant panda cubs on October 13th 2015. When they were first born they weighed just 187 and 115 grams. On January 20th, the cubs reached the 100 days milestone and are now robust fuzzy little pandas. The 100 day celebration is important because in China when a child reaches 100 days the girl or boy will have survived the riskiest and most fragile part of infancy. Check out the incredible journey of these two cubs so far.
