Check Out This Amazing Two Headed Snake
A gentleman from the United States spent US$50,000 on a two headed albino snake. Todd Ray who owns the Venice Beach Freakshow, purchased Medusa a four year old double headed Honduran Milksnake born in Florida. In an interview with reporters, Mr. Ray said he had wanted Medusa since she was born over four years ago and has been negotiating with the owner, with the price continually rising.
Guinness World Record holder
Mr. Ray is already a Guinness World Record for having the largest collection of two headed animals however he considers Medusa to be his crown jewel. He says Medusa is perfect, whilst there are other beautiful double headed snakes, they have a kink where the heads are supposed to converge. With Medusa this is not the case, Mr. Ray says it is as if she was meant to have two heads.
3 foot long double headed snake
Medusa is a 3 foot long snake that Mr. Ray says is a handful particularly at feeding time. She was flown in from Florida and usually Mr. Ray gives the snake about a week to get used to their surroundings before feeding. With Medusa however, she was moving around so much he thought she was seeking out food. Mr. Ray has a number of two headed snakes that he feeds one at time, placing a playing card between their heads so that they do not end up biting each other.
“I bring a mouse up to them and both opened their mouths. Then the right head struck and yanked the mouse right out of my hand. Then the left head grabbed the mouse’s butt end. I couldn’t believe how quickly they were eating. They were going to meet in the middle — and these types of snakes eat other snakes!”
Mr. Ray used a butcher’s knife to cut the mouse in half before the right head ended up swallowing the left. He now keeps two mice ready at the same time before feeding. Medusa is now on display at the Venice Beach Freakshow and says expects she will be a big draw.
“I really think she is the star — especially for snakes,” he said. “I wouldn’t have spent that much money if she wasn’t so valuable.”
