Amazing Aspinall Foundation Baby Anteater

If you want to see one of the cutest baby animals in the whole world, check out this tiny anteater that has just been born at the Howletts Wild Animal Park, near Canterbury in Kent.

This little beauty is the latest in a long line of successful births that have taken place recently for the Aspinall Foundation. The have been having something of a purple patch over the summer, and check out the video below to see the baby perched on it’s mothers back.

Giant Anteaters live in South America, and unlike many other animals, the females normally give birth to only one baby at a time. The babies are usually born within 190 of pregnancy, and the mother will carry the baby on her back (see below) when they are first born. Baby’s then stay with their mothers for up to 2 years, before they go off and find their own way in life.

Head of Hoofstock Section, Joel Bunce, said –

We were delighted with this latest arrival. It’s been a long time since we had a giant anteater birth and this little one is getting on really well.
