A group of tourists on safari managed to get the ultimate up close and personal experience with nature after a cheetah leapt into their car. The tourists were travelling through the Serengeti and were completely shocked when a cheetah decided it wanted a better look of what was happening inside the car.

Just making sure the tourists weren’t a threat

One of the tourists who is featured in the video said that his group were watching three cheetahs when one of the big cats spotted them and hopped on to the hood of the vehicle. The group was busy watching the first cheetah when a second one decided to hop into the back with the tourists. The tourists said whilst they were watching the first cheetah his brother flanked the vehicle and entered giving it a good sniff to make sure there was no threat.

Good advice from the guide

The group’s guide advised them to stay calm and avoid all eye contact with the cheetah. When you watch the video you will see the big cat sniffing around inside the vehicle and clawing at the headrest of an empty seat and nibbling at it. One of the tourists said he physically slowed down his breathing hoping the big cat wouldn’t sense his fear.

Extremely scary experience

The tourist adds that it was probably the scariest moment of his life when it happened. He said he felt the need to clear his mind of all thoughts because everything we are taught about predators and the fact that they can sense feat and discomfort and respond accordingly. Fortunately for everyone involved, the curious cheetah simply left on its own leaving everyone unharmed.

Unbelievable experience

Following the cheetah’s departure, everyone in the car just looked at one another and paused for about ten seconds as the cheetahs left the scene. They simply could not believe that the situation was real to begin with and they managed to survive it unscathed.
