Mama Elephant Protects Her Baby From Tourists

Elephants have good reason to be suspicious of humans considering how much abuse the species has endured over the years. These intelligent animals are quick to pass on the trait to their youngsters. This amazing footage shoes a mama elephant use her trunk to stop her curious baby from wandering to near to a vehicle filled with tourists who were visiting Kruger National Park in South Africa,

Don’t talk to strangers

It’s almost as if she is warning her calf not to talk to strangers says Kruger Sightings which was responsible for uploading the video to YouTube. Not surprisingly, everyone watching enjoyed just how cute the episode was and many of the comments under the video echoed that sentiment. One viewer said what a wonderful mother the elephant was whilst another praised the mama elephant as being good, very experienced and wise.

Poaching remains a problem

There have been a number of occasions where elephants have rammed vehicles that have come to close, so tourists are advised to keep a safe distance. Unfortunately poaching of these wonderful animals to maintain the supply of ivory still remains a big issue in South Africa, even in its famed Kruger National Park.
