A group of safari tourists visiting South Africa’s Kruger National Park came across a baby elephant who charged the group and attempted to come across as threatening. If you watch the video of the encounter though you will see the baby bull elephant come across as nothing short of adorable. The little fella tries to behave as if he is all grown up but instead completely fails in his attempt.
Charges twice
In the video you can see the baby elephant charging the vehicle and warning the group by trumpeting. The little guy then thinks better of it and retreats back into the tall grass. He then makes a second attempt at scaring the group by charging the vehicle again, this time coming a little closer but quickly retreats yet again. He finally gives up and joins his mother who is grazing at the side of the road.
A charging elephant is very dangerous
Despite the cuteness factor of this encounter, an elephant which decides to charge is far from a laughing matter. An angry bull elephant can cause plenty of damage to a vehicle and even cause the death of people sitting inside. If you are ever in a situation where an elephant has its ears pinned back and decides to charge then you have a problem. If the elephants ears are fanned out and it charges, then it is just warning you with a mock charge. In this video the little fella has his ears fanned out so there was never really any danger of the guy doing either himself or anyone in the group any damage.
