Have you ever wondered how lions in the circus get to retire? Well the lucky ones end up in a sanctuary where hopefully they can live out the rest of their lives in the sun. Recently a video was uploaded to YouTube which has gone viral and shows the retirement of a circus lion called Will after a lifetime of performances in Brazil.

The footage was uploaded by the nonprofit sanctuary where Will be spending the rest of his days. The sanctuary is located just outside Sao Paulo and has spent over two decades looking after wild and exotic animals that have suffered abuse and other issues.

The video shows the exciting moment where for the first time Will experiences the feeling of grass and soil beneath his feet. Prior to that moment, Will had apparently spent his entire life travelling with a circus in Brazil. The sanctuary says that Will had been confined to a cramped cage for 13 long years and denied any semblance of a normal existence.
