Homeland Star Visits Aspinall Foundation Park
I don’t know about you, but I’ve been totally gripped by the American series Homeland, which has been showing on Channel 4 for the recent months. Well imagine the surprise the other day when stay of the show Damian Lewis popped into the Aspinall Foundation’s Port Lympne Wild Animal Park with his family for a nose around!
The Lewis family were enjoying a bit of downtime between Damian’s filming schedule, and enjoyed a VIP day out to visit many of the amazing animals that are housed at the wildlife park in Kent. During their time in the grounds they visited an Amur tiger family, took part in the African Experience safari to visit black rhinos, giraffes, wildebeests, and fed a family of western lowland gorillas. These are the same gorillas that will soon be released into a protected area in their native Africa, they’ll have their own Hollywood tales to tell when they get into the jungle now!

This was a welcome break from my hectic filming schedule and it was great to just relax and spend time with my family. All of us really enjoyed getting close to the animals and seeing the conservation work of The Aspinall Foundation in action.
Nice to see the animals mixing so freely with the stars! It’s not often you see a Hollywood A-lister visiting the a local wildlife park in the UK, but Damian is actually English, though you wouldn’t have guessed from his accent on the show. I guess that’s called acting folks!
The Aspinall Foundation is a world leading conservation charity, and if you would like to learn more about their work or would like to adopt an animal through them, check out our dedicated charity page for more information.
