Livingstone Lodge Back on the Award Trail Again
The amazing Aspinall Foundation safari experience in Kent, Livingstone Lodge, is once again up the Best Tourism Experience in The Beautiful South Awards. Already holders of this prestigious award, the unique African experience at Port Lympne Wild Animal Park in Kent has again been shortlisted for the prestigious honour for 2012/13.
Personally, I can’t believe I haven’t made the trip to visit this amazing site myself, but we on the team at Adopt an Animal plan to make a weekend of it in 2013 (all for research purposes of course!). Livingstone Lodge is by far one of best tourism attractions in the UK, and a complete one off. Absolutely nowhere else in the country offers you the chance to experience what it is like to stay at an African safari experience, particularly in the UK! Since the lodge opened in 2007 it has been awarded –
- Best Tourism Experience in regional awards for 2009, 2010 and 2011
- England’s Best Tourism Experience in 2010 and 2012
Managing Director of Howletts and Port Lympne Wild Animal Parks, Bob O’Connor, said –
It’s an honour to be nominated again for Best Tourism Experience in The Beautiful South Awards for Excellence this year. It’s a credit to all the staff who work so hard to make this such an exceptional product. The season has now closed at the lodge but we are taking bookings for 2013 and of course we have our luxury cottage – open all year round, it’s perfect for a pre Christmas getaway. Livingstone Lodge is very popular because it is so authentic – it’s a window to Africa, a wonderful experience which underlines the importance of conservation. As you watch the wildebeest, rhino and giraffe wandering past the lodge you could imagine that you are in the heart of Africa.
This year awards will be held at a glittering ceremony held at Denbies English Vineyard in Dorking, where the winner swill be announced. Good luck to everyone involved in the project at the Aspinall Foundation, you don’t become this successful unless you’re doing something right! We look forward to visit you in Spring 2013, where we will have a chance to experience it for ourselves.
